AlphaTheta Corporation has today announced the release of the 4-channel DJ controller for multiple DJ applications DDJ-FLX6-GT from its Pioneer DJ brand – an updated version that will replace the popular DDJ-FLX6.

The fresh design of the DDJ-FLX6-GT introduces a new look and feel for its full-size jog wheels, which feature a graphite color plus a metalic texture on top and a rubberized coating on the outer ring for improved playability. The rest of the unit also boasts a sophisticated look, with a brand-new matt grey color across its body. Another major update to the DJ controller is its compatibility with an expanded range of software. The new unit adds support for VirtualDJ (licenses available separately), while retaining free compatibility with rekordbox and Serato DJ Pro. VirtualDJ software will be available to use with the original DDJ-FLX6 (black/white models) by updating the unit to the latest firmware version, and TRAKTOR PRO 3 will be available to use downloading the mapping files (TSI file).

The DDJ-FLX6-GT includes all the features of the original unit including Merge FX, which makes it easy to hype up the audience and mix songs from totally different genres. You can effortlessly change from hip-hop to house, from rock to EDM, or between any other styles you want to play. And, with the Jog Cutter and Sample Scratch features, you can easily spice up your sets with pro-sounding scratch effects.

To use the DDJ-FLX6-GT with rekordbox, install the latest version of the software.
To use the unit with Serato DJ Pro, install the latest version of the software and use the bundled vouchers for the FX Pack and Pitch 'n Time DJ Expansion Pack to unlock those functions.
To use the DDJ-FLX6-GT with VirtualDJ and TRAKTOR PRO 3, you’ll need to buy a license key or subscription for the latest version of the software. To use TRAKTOR PRO 3 import the mapping file (TSI file).

UPDATED DESIGN WITH A GRAPHITE COLOR BRINGS A SOPHISTICATED LOOK

The layout of the controls on the DDJ-FLX6-GT is the same as its predecessor, echoing club-standard CDJ + DJM setup, so you can perform intuitively. However, a new matt grey body and the graphite color of the jog brings a sophisticated look.

SUPPORT FOR VIRTUALDJ

VirtualDJ is compatible with the updated unit (licenses available separately), which also offers free use of the rekordbox Core plan and Serato DJ Pro. The DJ controller also comes with license keys for the Serato FX Pack, Pitch 'n Time DJ Expansion Packs and TRAKTOR PRO 3 TSI file, which will be released. With a built-in sound card, all you need to do is connect the DDJ-FLX6-GT via USB cable to a laptop that’s running a compatible software and you can start DJing right away.

MERGE FX FOR DYNAMIC SWITCHING FROM ONE TRACK TO THE NEXT IN A SINGLE ACTION

Add drama to your sets and easily mix different styles of music with this innovative feature. No matter what the BPM or key of the next track is, you can create an exciting transition whenever you want. Simply press the knob to engage the effect, then turn it as fast or as slowly as you like to start building up the tension in the music. Depending on the effect pattern you’ve chosen, the pitch of the track might start to climb while a snare drum sample is triggered at shorter intervals until you’re ready to drop your next song. When you press the knob again, the effect is released – and if you’ve chosen one in the settings, another sample fires off to end the track so you can simply hit play on the other deck to introduce the next song or genre of music.
There are 8 Merge FX pattern presets to choose from (4 if you use VirtualDJ, TRAKTOR PRO 3, or Serato DJ Pro) and you can use your own samples. If you’re DJing with rekordbox, you’ll find everything is customizable. Choose from 41 types of effects within the 4 categories that make up a Merge FX (Build FX, Build Sample, Release FX, and Drop Sample) and combine them to create more than 9,000 different patterns. You can save 8 of your own patterns and use the FX Select button on the unit to call them up whenever you want to perform a unique mix.

JOG CUTTER FOR MAKING PRO-SOUNDING SCRATCH EFFECTS, ONE-HANDED

Turn on Jog Cutter* and, when you move the jog wheel, a professional scratch effect will be applied to the last Hot Cue or playback position you used on that deck. There are 10 different scratch patterns and you can switch from one to another by simply moving the playhead position, shown on the jog wheel’s display, to point toward the angle for the scratch you want to use. When you lift your hand away, the track will continue to play as normal from the Hot Cue position.

FULL-SIZE JOG WHEELS WITH TRACK POSITION DISPLAY MAKES PERFORMING INTUITIVE

Pitch bending and scratching feel natural on the DDJ-FLX6-GT thanks to the large jog wheels, which are the same size as those on the flagship CDJ-3000 multi player. Each one features and On Jog Display* too, so you can keep an eye on the playhead position, and the new rubberized finish on the outer ring gives you a much better feeling – especially when pitch bend.

SAMPLE SCRATCH ENABLES YOU TO GET CREATIVE WITH YOUR FAVORITE SOUNDS

The Sample Scratch pad mode in rekordbox enables you to choose sounds you’ve assigned to the sampler and load them onto the decks. So, when you want to create a live remix of a track or simply add some texture to the music, you can scratch with your favorite sounds. If you’re using Serato DJ Pro or VirtualDJ, you can use Scratch Bank* to trigger samples by hitting the Performance Pads.
